Peseiro takes Braga post
Portuguese club Braga have appointed Jose Peseiro as their new coach on a two-year deal.
"I am very pleased to sign for Braga, who are one of the four biggest clubs in Portugal," Peseiro said at a press conference, choosing to bracket the northern outift alongside traditional giants Benfica, FC Porto and Sporting CP.
Peseiro, 52, who quit his role as coach of Saudi Arabia last year, added: "I decided that the right sporting project must come before money. Luckily, this opportunity presented itself in Portugal. My desire to return to Portugal and win trophies here made me sign for Braga."
Braga will contest the UEFA Champions League play-offs at the start of next season after finishing third in the Portuguese top flight.
Peseiro, who once had a spell as assistant to Carlos Queiroz at Real Madrid, replaces Leonardo Jardim, who departed "by mutual consent" last week and has since taken over at Greek club Olympiakos.
Peseiro led Sporting to the UEFA Cup final in 2005 and has also coached Nacional, Panathinaikos and Rapid Bucharest.
